This Tour is available all year round. You can choose our full three days tour or you can choose from 1 day to 3 days

We stay at hotels that are conveniently located within the township of Madang and offer clean and affordable accommodation with friendly staff and beautiful restaurants that overlook the ocean. The hotel also has a swimming pool, a gym and a place to swim in the sea.

 

All our land transfers are private for our tours, and we use local services [family owned] boats for our harbor cruise and island hoping.

 

Our crew [Guides/Drivers/Boat operators] are local and experienced and knowledgable.

What to Expect

Connectivity: Electricity and internet access are available throughout most of the trip. However, for phone calls, you’ll need to purchase a local SIM card upon arrival at the airport (we recommend Digicel).

 

Itinerary Flexibility: While unforeseen circumstances might occasionally necessitate changes to the program, we strive to follow the schedule and include all planned activities. We’re well-prepared to handle most situations, but please be aware that slight deviations may occur.

 

Packing Essentials: Don’t forget to bring warm clothes for the cooler evenings   you might consider packing insect repellent for additional peace of mind.

Currency Exchange: You can exchange extra money for Papua New Guinean Kina (PGK) at the Port Moresby (POM) airport upon arrival.

 

Visa Requirements: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates. You’ll also need to apply for a visa online before your trip, Apply here. We can offer support letters to expedite your application process if needed.

ISLAND HOPPING and TRIBAL TOURS RIWO VILLAGE

After breakfast, you will be transferred by land to Riwo village you board your boat for a harbor cruise / island hoping until you reach Wongat Island, you go snorkelling and swimming, before returing to Jais Aben Resort for lunch.

After lunch, you will be treated to an array of Tribal activities that includes a

  • performance from the Riwo singsing group,
  • See how the local beer called Koniak is made and have a taste,
  • The local string band, bamboo band

Your visit to the tribe here ends  and you return to your hotel.

Today your tour begins with a drive up to the Balek Sulpher Creek, visit the river to see the river eels, continue to the sulpher creek and the cave.

From Bilbil village, you depart for Haus Tumbuna [Museum and Art Gallery] your guide walks you through the interesting part of the museum giving you an in-depth history of Madang.

A stop at the Masin Gun Beach and you go for a short walk enjoying the ea and coconut plam trees, rather than a typical sandy beach it is a rough and rocky cove beach. 

You continue to the famous Kalibobo light house, constructed in the early 20th century, this historical landmark stands tall with a vibrant symbol of the area’s rich maritime history.

Madang is known for its markets, so after the museum and visit to Kalibobo, you take a tour of our famous local markets. Take a walk through the

  • local vegetable market
  • The Arts and Crafts market
  • And the seafront fish market

Say good by to your guide and you return to your return to your hotel as the day begins to end.

  • Alexishafen War Tanks

Alexishafen was a United States Navy base built during World War II after it was successfully captured from the Japanese.

  • Canon Gun Beach in town (Commonly known by the locals as Masin Gun Beach)
  • Amron station – Japanese gunner
    • [shot the B25 Boomber in 1943 WWII, now a wreck sitting under water at Wongat Island 15minutes by boat from Jais Aben Resort]
    • The Amron station was also a place of immense Japanese secrecy as it was also the place of execution for American POWs
  • St Fidelis College
    • Held a number of wrecks and remnants from the war
